Should You Protest Your Collin County Tax Appraisal?
WERE YOU SURPRISED BY THE TAX APPRAISAL YOU RECEIVED THIS WEEK?This week, you likely received a letter in the email with your new tax appraisal. If you are like most of us, your appraisal went up and it might have gone up a significant degree. In fact, we are seeing very large increases in the appraised values issued by the county tax offices this week. Big increases in appraised values can result in big increases in taxes. The county assigns a monetary value to your home’s worth, and you pay taxes on that value. Since a taxpayer doesn’t want to pay any more taxes than required, it’s important to know if the value the county determined is accurate. You also have the ability to protest these increases if you feel they are inaccurate, however, many people don’t do this either because they are not sure if they should or they don’t know how to do it. This week at The Tomlin Team, we spent a good bit of time and research creating a detailed PDF that will let you know what to do and how to do it.
